An increasing number of people are starting to use canary seeds to help them lose weight. While, for a long time, they were considered to just be food for birds, they’ve now become popular for human consumption.

These seeds come from the Phalaris canariensis plant. They’re thought to contain remarkable amounts of enzymes and amino acids. These nutrients help multiple vital systems of your body to work properly.

It’s also thought that eating them can stimulate fat and cholesterol reduction and improve metabolism which prevents metabolic disorders like diabetes.

Furthermore, traditional medicine has attributed several properties to canary seeds. For example, they’re thought to have lipid-reducing, demulcent, and diuretic effects. However, experts claim that there’s insufficient scientific evidence to confirm this.

Nevertheless, people are starting to show interest in canary seeds, not just to help them lose weight but also for the nutrients inside of them.

Have you been wondering about using canary seeds to help you lose weight? Well, below we’ll tell you how to prepare canary seed milk and add it to your diet.

  • They contain vegetable protein, recommended to increase sports performance and muscle mass
  • They have diuretic and purifying properties and help eliminate fluid retention
  • Their antioxidants accelerate cell metabolism and prevent tissue damage by creating a barrier against free radicals from the environment
  • They’re a source of dietary fiber that, in addition to improving your digestion, keep you feeling fuller for a longer time
  • They help improve blood circulation and minimize the presence of cellulite and varicose veins

What kind of canary seeds should you use?

It’s really important to differentiate canary seeds for human consumption from those meant for birds. Although their nutritional properties are almost exactly the same, the variety meant for birds contains a substance called silica which is harmful to humans.

Therefore, look for canary seeds labeled “Silica Free.” You can find them in natural food stores or supermarkets.

However, be careful as silica is really small and you may not notice it at first glance. It’s essential to avoid canary seeds that contains it because it can harm the mucous membrane of your digestive system.
