5 Tips for Decorating Your Home with Mini-plants
Giving a green touch to our spaces brings many benefits. Some plants serve to purify the air while others to control the temperature and several give off a pleasant aroma. However, if even plastic flowers perish in your hands, the appropriate thing to do is to start decorating your home with natural mini-plants.
These lovely little plants beautify the environment and bring a nice green touch to the interior. Mini-plants are also very easy and practical to take care of; they’re usually small succulents and cacti.
The kitchen, the living room, bathrooms, bedrooms… it doesn’t matter where you decide to place these little beauties. They look great in any space. Let’s take a look at some of the best tips for decorating your home with mini plants.
1. Decorate your kitchen with mini-plants
The kitchen is the heart of the home. After all, some families spend many hours sharing this place.
Therefore, it wouldn’t hurt to enhance the beauty of the space with a few succulents. For example, mini cactus can live in a warm and bright environment.
The container is also something important to keep in mind. In this case, you can give free rein to your creativity and crafting skills! You can reuse old cans, small wooden boxes, glass jars, and even tea cups. Try choosing succulents with different looks for some unique decor.
Does your kitchen have windows? Shelves next to them are ideal for decorating with mini-plants. Or perhaps you can put them on a countertop that’s unoccupied. Keep in mind that you can customize their containers with stickers and ribbons to achieve a very original design.

2. Use your dining table as a decorative space
Several of the mini-plants can form an interesting centerpiece to replace the classic vase with flowers. Thus, you can opt for a large container made of ceramic, glass, or clay, for example.
Inside, place several mini-plants of the same type or a variety of them. To enhance their beauty, consider covering the surface of the soil with white pearls.
Just make sure that the base of their container is clean. When you decide to water, make sure there’s good drainage and the area is dry so as not to soil the tablecloth or glass on the table. You can also use a planter as a bowl stand.
3. Give your living room a green touch by decorating with mini-plants
If the kitchen is the heart of the home, the living room is the central focus. Not surprisingly, that’s where guests are received. And this is where mini-plants can find their ideal home.
Creativity plays an important role here. How about creating a mini zen garden?
You can make use of colored soil and design several layers in the glass bowl. It’s also possible to place your artwork on the tea table.
Another option is to arrange them on the shelves in the living room or make a vertical wall full of mini-plants. The possibilities are endless! You can also find jars and materials that will help you with whatever style you’re going for.
4. Take them to the bathroom!
Can you grow cactus in the bathroom? It may not have occurred to you before, but this is possible, despite the humid conditions. What is important is that they receive a good dose of natural light, so discard this idea if your bathroom doesn’t have windows.
Arrange small plants on the sink countertop or on some of the shelves of the place, but without overloading the space. Another good option is to get a magnetic board, where you can hang your plants by simply sticking a small magnet on the bottle.
Air plants are a plausible alternative if your bathroom has no lighting or air flow. Being an epiphyte, this place doesn’t require any soil and can adapt to the conditions described above. On the other hand, it’s also known for its ability to absorb polluting particles from the air.
5. Decorate your room or desk
Ideally, you should opt for plants that have the ability to purify the air, absorb harmful substances, and release oxygen at night. Sansevierias and aloes fulfill some of these characteristics, so you can bring them into the bedroom.
Just place some small vases on the nightstand or dresser. However, if the plants are going to go in your children’s room, make sure to opt for those that are thorn-free, such as Haworthias.
Some people have a desk at home to work or study, and these spaces also look great when they’re decorated with mini-plants. They add an interesting air and help productivity, concentration, and stress reduction.
