Bad breath, or halitosis, is very unpleasant and can often cause anxiety. There is a wide variety of products available in the shops, such as chewing gum, mouthwash, and other products, which are designed to treat bad breath.
However, the effects are only temporary and they don’t address the root cause of bad breath.
The main causes of bad breath are poor eating habits and other health-related matters. Fortunately, however, this condition can often be addressed with the right oral hygiene.
If these techniques don’t help, then you need to go and visit your doctor or dentist. That way, you’ll be able to find out what is causing your bad breath and be sure that it’s nothing serious.
Symptoms of Bad Breath
The signs of bad breath are obvious and people around you will notice them, too:
Air coming from the mouth and nose smells bad.
There is a persistent bad taste in the mouth.
People you talk to tend to move away from you.
There’s also the possibility that your gums might be bleeding which is a sign of gingivitis which can cause bad breath too. Most people who have this condition don’t realize it.
If you don’t brush your teeth every day, food will stay in your mouth and accumulate bacteria which causes bad breath. Foods like garlic and onions can also contribute to bad breath. Once they’ve been eaten and absorbed into the bloodstream, the smell reaches the lungs, and thus cause bad breath.
Tobacco products also cause bad breath. If you smoke, it’s a good idea to go to a dentist to get rid of the residues or, better yet, give up smoking.
Cinnamon has many health benefits and antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitic, antimycotic, and anti-inflammatory properties.
For this reason, it’s used as the main ingredient for a range of remedies. You can also use it to treat bad breath and have great oral heal that any age.
Treat Bad Breath with Cinnamon
Natural remedies have always been great for relieving a range of different ailments. If you mix cinnamon with a few medicinal ingredients, you can come up with a few ways to treat bad breath.
Cinnamon and Ginger
These two natural remedies put together are great for bad breath. Gingerol, the active ingredient in root ginger, destroys the bacteria that cause bad breath.
Heat the water and, when it reaches a boil, add the cinnamon and ginger.
Leave it over the heat for 5 minutes more.
Then, remove it from the heat and leave it to rest for 5 minutes.
Drink it warm three times a day.
If you like it, you can also use it as a mouthwash.
Honey and Cinnamon
These two ingredients are also a great way to treat bad breath. The antimicrobial properties of honey are very effective at getting rid of the bacteria that cause bad breath.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons of honey (75 g)
1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon (15 g)
How to Make It
Mix the two ingredients together in a bowl and mix well so that they’re well integrated.
Take a tablespoon after every meal.
You can also brush your teeth with it before using toothpaste.
