Heartburn, or acidity in the stomach, occurs when acid from the stomach flows backward into the esophagus. This causes a very uncomfortable burning sensation in the chest that can rise up to your neck and throat. You may also have a bitter or sour taste in the back of your throat.
Heartburn can last from a few minutes to several hours, and often is worse right after eating.
Having stomach acid occasionally is common, and it can be relieved with natural remedies.
6 remedies to calm heartburn at home
1. Baking soda

Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda (5 g)
- 1 cup of water (250 ml)
What should you do?
- First, add the teaspoon of baking soda in the cup of water and mix well to compact the two ingredients.
- Consume this preparation at least 2 times a day, especially when you eat extremely fatty foods.
2. Oats for heartburn

Ingredients
- 1 cup of instant oatmeal (50 g)
- 2 cups of milk (500 ml)
- 1 teaspoon of honey (5 ml) (to sweeten, optional)
What should you do?
- Put 2 cups of milk in a blender and add the instant oatmeal.
- Then, process for 2 or 3 minutes, until obtaining a smooth mixture.
- Pour a glass and drink it. It’s important to drink oats several times a day for acid reflux.
3. Bananas

- Carbohydrates
- Minerals and (phosphorus, calcium, potassium)
- Vitamin (A, C, niacin, vitamin E, and B6)
What should you do?
- Eat 1 or 2 bananas a day. It will be a great help to relieve heartburn and to prevent the burning feeling.
- You can also include it in juices or as an ingredient in cakes or smoothies.
4. Apple cider vinegar

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (15 ml)
- 1 cup of water (250 ml)
What should you do?
- Add the apple cider vinegar in a cup of water and mix well before drinking it.
5. Ginger tea

Ingredients
- 1 ginger root (9 g)
- 1 cup of water (250 ml)
What should you do?
- Warm the cup of water with the (chopped) ginger root.
- When it boils, turn off the heat and let steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Finally, pour a cup and drink it.
6. Cinnamon for stomach acidity

Ingredients
- ½ a teaspoon of cinnamon (2.5 g)
- 1 cup of water (250 ml)
What should you do?
- First, heat a cup of water.
- When it reaches a boil, add the cinnamon.
- Then, let it infuse for a few minutes, and turn off the heat.
- After steeping for 5 or 7 minutes, strain the drink, pour it in a cup and drink.
