Blood glucose comes from the food consumed, especially carbohydrates. Hence, in part, the need to take care of one’s diet and, in particular, the amounts of each food group that is ingested to maintain the balance of the body.

Now, if glucose levels are very high in a person, this condition is called diabetes mellitus. This is a disease characterized by the inability of the body to regulate blood glucose levels.

Although pharmacological treatment and medical control are essential, there are certain complementary natural measures that can help the patient to enjoy a good quality of life. Below, we’ll tell you what they are.

Natural herbs for stabilizing blood sugar levels

1. Cinnamon infusion

A cup of cinnamon tea.

Cinnamon is an aromatic spice that has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and has been shown to help complement pharmacological treatment aimed at lowering blood glucose levels.

This popular spice helps to improve insulin sensitivity as it improves glucose uptake by adipose and skeletal muscle tissues, inhibits intestinal glucose absorption and, in turn, increases insulin secretion. Therefore, experts recommended drinking an infusion regularly, whichyou can prepare as follows:

Preparation

  • Heat the water and once it reaches a boil, and the stick of cinnamon.

  • You can drink this up to twice a day.

Note: You can use the same cinnamon stick multiple times since it’s really aromatic and doesn’t lose its taste or properties quickly.

2. Ginseng tea

Ginseng is a root that also increases insulin sensitivity and makes insulin more effectively utilized by the body. So, if cinnamon is not your favorite flavor, or you just want to vary the drink a little, you can drink ginseng tea to lower your blood glucose level.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water (250 ml)
  • 1 ginseng root

Whole and ground flax seeds.

Flaxseed is a seed that has a high content of omega 3, iron, potassium, phosphorus and vitamin E. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

It can be consumed in many ways, although it works especially well when taken with a main meal, as it improves the digestion process and in turn regulates blood pressure and blood glucose.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed (30 g)
  • 1 glass of water (250 ml)

  • Take the glass of water and add the ground linseed. If you want, you can use whole linseeds.

  • Don’t sweeten it, or at least, for diabetics, only use artificial sweeteners or another one of the herbs we’ve mentioned.

4. Mango Leaf Infusion

The leaves of the mango tree stimulate the production of insulin, thus lowering blood glucose. Hence, they’re considered to have medicinal properties for conditions such as hypertension, asthma, diabetes, and other more common conditions such as diarrhea.

These leaves contain flavonoids, gallic acid, caffeic acid, and vitamins A, B and C. To enjoy the benefits of these elements, you should consume the infusion of these leaves regularly.

A glass of apple cider vinegar.

It is popularly said that apple cider vinegar may help regulate blood glucose levels. However, there is no scientific evidence for this.

Taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, diluted in a glass of water, would supposedly help regulate blood glucose levels. Although you can buy it in stores, you can also make it yourself at home in no time, as follows.

Ingredients

  • 10 ripe organic apples
  • 2 glasses of water (500 ml)

Preparation

  • Wash, peel, and chop the apples.
  • Use a blender to make apple juice and process with water.
  • Fill a wide glass bowl up to halfway with the juice.
  • Cover it with clingfilm and leave it for 4 to 5 weeks at a temperature between 18 and 20° C so that it ferments.
  • Pout the liquid into a clean and wide bowl, cover it with a cloth, and leave it in a warm place for three days.
  • Finally, filter the vinegar and keep it in a dark bottle so that it doesn’t spoil. It’s now ready to use.
