5 Natural Remedies to Relieve Sleep Apnea
Do you know how to relieve sleep apnea naturally? Sleep apnea is a common disorder that occurs when breathing is interrupted, or when it becomes shallow, due to the narrowing or partial obstruction of the respiratory airways. These pauses can last for seconds to minutes and they frequently occur 30 or more times an hour.
After the pause, breathing returns to normal, sometimes with snoring or also with a gagging-like sound. The people with the highest risk of having sleep apnea are those who suffer from being overweight or obese. However, it’s also common in patients with respiratory illnesses, tonsillitis, and tobacco users.
Things to consider
- The following remedies are intended to help relax your body to enjoy a good night’s rest. They aren’t treated as such or a cure for the disease or snoring.

- In case your doctor authorizes you to consume these natural remedies, try to moderate them and don’t neglect the practice of other good lifestyle habits.

How to relieve sleep apnea
In order to properly treat sleep apnea, it’s best to follow your doctor’s instructions. Keep in mind that, although natural remedies can contribute to relief in some cases, they’ll never replace medical treatment as such.
The MSD Manual explains that to treat obstructive sleep apnea, your doctor may provide you with a device called “continuous positive airway pressure” to help you breathe at night. Depending on the case, the device may be enough, but in others, other measures may need to be considered.
