How to Make Your Eyelashes Grow

· March 2, 2015

Just like your hair, your eyelashes can fall out and grow back.  If your eyelashes fall out or are damaged by mascara, plucking or dye, you need to wait for them to grow back again.  While the length and health of your eyelashes is determined by genetics, there are certain natural ways to make your eyelashes grow. So, how can you make your eyelashes grow?  We are going to talk about nutrients you should consume, along with other tricks, if you want long and healthy eyelashes.

Vitamin H

Vitamin H (Biotin) promotes quicker hair growth and helps strengthen hair.  Vitamin H is a vitamin in the B complex vitamins, which is found in several cosmetic products, as well as certain foods.  This hydro-soluble vitamin is found in sardines, walnuts, almonds, brewer’s yeast, bananas and whole grains.  It is also found in egg yolks.  However, raw egg whites contain avidin, a protein which prevents vitamin H absorption.

Vitamins C and E, two antioxidant vitamins, are important for hair growth and normal development.  Without vitamin C, hair could become dry and brittle.  Vitamin C could also block hair damage caused by free radicals, to keep it healthy and to help heal and repair it.  Vitamin E increases circulation to the scalp, which leads to a healthier scalp.  These vitamins are found in citrus fruits, avocados, and leafy greens.

Olive oil

Olive oil remedies

Rub a small amount of olive oil or castor oil on your eyelids, at the base of your eyelashes, every night.  This will motivate them to be longer and thicker.  You should start seeing signs of new hair growth after one or two months.  This new hair growth will be healthier and stronger than previous growth.  Olive oil also acts as a conditioner to improve eyelash health.

Emu oil

Emu oil improves the way eyelashes look and stimulates growth to be longer and thicker.  Gently press a small amount of this oil onto your eyelashes to condition the hair and to stimulate new hair growth.

This alternative treatment also works in the same way that olive and castor oil do.  Rub a bit of it on your eyes at the base of your eyelashes every night before going to bed.  You can wash it off after 15 minutes if you prefer.  You will notice hair growth after a few weeks.

Balanced diet

Eating a healthy diet rich in proteins and vitamins helps eyelashes to grow.  Good foods that help eyelashes grow are: fish, eggs, beans and yogurt.  Soy protein is also beneficial for eyelash growth.
