Bachelor of Social Communication. Luz Marina Carpio Hernández has held the positions of reporter, editor and editor-in-chief in different print and online newspapers. She has also trained in creative narrative and digital journalism to work as a freelance editor.

About the author

Graduated with a degree in Social Communication, with a mention in Journalism, from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello - Núcleo Guayana (Venezuela) in 2009. She took part in the Workshop on Journalistic Genres at the R&D Grupo Comunicacional (Venezuela). At The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas at Austin, she completed the courses Ethics in Covering Violence and Interviewing Victims and Diversity in News and Newsrooms in 2012 and 2021, respectively. She has a certificate in Writing for all, issued by the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 2015, and completed the basic course on Social Media from the Editorial de Primicias (Venezuela) in the same year. For more than a decade, she has accumulated experience in various print and digital media. She has been a reporter for Diario de Guayana, Correo del Caroní, and Primicia, in different periods between 2009 and 2015. And from 2016 to the present, she has worked as the editor and chief editor at Primicia, a job that she combines with training in creative narrative and digital journalism with which she assumes freelance writing work on different topics for Venezuelan and international websites. In 2012, she received the "Andrés Roderick" Regional Journalism Award and the "Lucas Manzano" Municipal Journalism Award.
