Do You Know What Hamburgers Really Are?

· January 16, 2016

There are many myths on the raw material that is used to make so-called “fast food”. That is why various investigations have been done to find out what they are actually made of. Read this article to discover the mystery and find out what hamburgers from fast food restaurants really are.

Junk Food, More and More Present in Our Diet

Junk food, also known as fast food, has many negative consequences for your body. If you add the fact that sedentary lifestyles are frequent in society, it is not illogical to think that something is not good in your diet and habits.

But beyond that, the food available in many places is not the healthiest, it is the opposite. It is easier to eat a hamburger than a salad in many countries.

If you only eat this kind of food once in awhile for a treat, for a celebration, or because you want to eat something different once a month, that’s not a problem. The inconvenience is in the fact that a lot of people eat fast food more than twice a week.

Hamburgers, as one of the examples of fast food, have a high amount of animal protein, additives, conservatives, dyes, flavor boosters, sugar, saturated fat, sodium, and a lot of calories. They also don’t give you any fiber or vitamins. The ingredients in fast food are addictive, as strong as this word sounds, it shows as we eat them more and more.

That is why children, once they go to these places, don’t want to eat their vegetables or other food that their parents make. Something similar happens with adults, especially because of the quickness needed to get food for lunch or the ease of not making dinner.

If you frequently eat this kind of food, your cholesterol levels will increase, you will have bone problems (because of low calcium input), cardiovascular diseases, obesity, constipation, cavities, general deterioration of your health, heavy and slow digestion, change in your preference for other food, and biochemical changes in the brain (as if it were a drug).

Reasons Why Not to Eat Hamburgers from Fast Food Restaurants

If besides wanting to eat healthier, you are an environment and ecology lover, then you have more reasons to stop eating fast food meals from those popular restaurants. Among the chemical poisons (that cause cancer and chronic diseases) and the consequences to the planet, this is enough to say enough.

Carbon hydroxide is one of the ingredients used to make hamburgers because it has the ability to kill bacteria. It is a pink color and is caused by treating the wastes from different meats. In other words, it is not edible.

In a meal or “combo”, there are tons of additives that are bad for your health that we cannot name in the same article. This is one of the reasons why they do harm to your body, beyond the calories and fats they contain.

After this came to light in a cooking program by chef Jamie Oliver, who showed what they did with this “pink slime” to fill chicken nuggets or sausages, the attention was put on hamburgers.

Fast food chains raise animals in artificial conditions so that they cannot move and only eat and gain weight. The killing methods tend to be slow and painful. Chickens are overfed, they lay eggs in small cages, and cows are in small spaces, eating corn or soy (they sometimes have to do an operation to remove their stomach) to make them gain weight faster.

In order to meet the huge demand for meat, companies destroy large areas of forests and rain forests. As a result, they grow soy that is used to feed the livestock. Also, for the packaging of their hamburgers and french fries, they cut down thousands of eucalyptus trees. The excrements of animals like cows releases methane gas, which is responsible for global warming. And as if that weren’t enough the wrappers are made with materials that are not biodegradable and cause a large amount of trash.

They inject a large amount of antibiotics and hormones to female cows. On the other hand, the hamburgers are almost 50% water. They are also made of tendons, tongue, gums, snouts, eyelids, tails, intestines, and blood.

What Do Hamburgers and Other Fast Foods Have?

People that work in fast food restaurants have experiences in the position and also can tell what every one of the most popular meals contain. All of this was found out by a study by the social website called Reddit, which got many ex-employees together so that they could reveal the secrets of junk food.

They have found, for example, that the appearance of hamburgers when they arrive at the restaurant (raw) do not look at all like meat, much less like how they look in ads. That is why they brown them as much as possible and then add different sauces.

On the other hand, they say that although the cleaning rules are very strict in the restaurant, the employees use the same oil to fry everything because of a lack of time and to not spend longer completing the order.

According to an official message from the most popular hamburger chain in the world, they state that they do not add any conservatives, however, various elements that are so difficult to read and to write (trichloroethane, dieldrin, ethylbenzene, etc.) can be found. That is the reason why we can leave a hamburger out for a long time and it won’t spoil.
