Several different factors can cause pores to look open and unattractive. This can be from a lack of good exfoliation treatments, bad skin care, genetics, sun damage, the appearance of blackheads, an unbalanced diet, etc. The following article will explain how you can naturally close pores to get more beautiful-looking skin.

Even though TV shows, movies, and commercials seem to portray people with totally blemish-free, porcelain skin, most people “in the flesh” tend to have large, open pores that are seemingly impossible to cover or minimize.

At least, that is what we used to believe. In fact, there are different natural remedies that can help close pores and enhance the overall beauty of your skin.

Beauty routine for enlarged pores

Follow the steps in this routine to gradually eliminate the appearance of open and enlarged pores.

Exfoliate twice a week

This will get rid of dead skin cells, as well as any dirt obstructing the pores that could cause acne and blackheads.  Use a cotton cloth dampened with warm water and softly rub the skin.

Do a steam bath once a week

This will help open your pores to eliminate residue, impurities, and oil.  They will then return to their normal size. Boil water in a saucepan and when it begins to bubble, put your face close to it, and cover your head with a towel in the same way you would if you were sick. Rinse your face with warm water and carefully pat to dry.

Apply a facial mask

Once you have finished your steam bath, your pores will be very open which will yield better results for the following steps. Clay masks are highly recommended because they eliminate acne and absorb excess oil, and they also reduce the size of pores.

Wash your face every morning

When you wake up, the first thing you should do is wash your face with warm water and apply a homemade facial mask. You can make this by mixing half a cup of water, 1/4 cup of milk, two spoonfuls of baking soda, and an egg white. This will deeply clean your pores and eliminate surface bacteria that can obstruct them. Gently rub and rinse with warm water.

Hydrate with aloe vera

This plant has many healing properties that can care for your skin. Aloe vera can help tone your face, control imperfections, and protect your skin from external agents. You can have an aloe vera plant at home, cut a leaf, and get the gel from the inside. Apply this to your face and allow it to dry before rinsing.

Home remedies to close pores

Almond mask

Crush 1/3 cup of almonds into a fine powder. Mix it with some water to form a paste. Spread on the skin, starting at the nose and spreading out to the rest of the face. Allow it to work for a half hour and then wash your face with warm water. Repeat this several times a week.

Buttermilk

This is an old home remedy to clear your skin but it also serves to naturally close pores. For an entire week, wash your face before going to bed and apply a little buttermilk by wetting a cotton ball. Allow it to work for 20 minutes and then rinse with cold water.

Papaya skin

Rub the inside of the papaya skin on clean skin. Allow it to work for 15 to 20 minutes before removing with warm water. This home remedy can also eliminate some freckles.

Mayonnaise

You can make mayonnaise yourself by mixing eggs, lemon juice, and oil or you can buy it at the store. You just have to apply a spoonful to your face and leave it for 20 minutes (it is also good to add shine to your hair). Your skin will be much softer. This is not a good idea to use this remedy if you have oily skin.

Orange juice

This is an affordable option to diminish the unappealing appearance of open pores. The nitric acid from this fruit serves as an exfoliant that cleans the pores. What’s more, vitamin C firms the skin. Squeeze the orange and soak up the juice with a cotton ball, which you should apply to the skin.

Another option is cutting the orange in half and rubbing it on the skin. Either way, allow it to sit for five minutes and then rinse with cold water. Don’t do this during the day or before you plan on going out since it can create a spotted appearance on the skin. It is better to do this at night.

Oatmeal mask

Place a cup of oatmeal in a food processor or blender. Grind it until it is a powder. Add it to a cup of warm water and mix until it forms a paste. Apply it to the face and leave it until it dries completely. Rinse your skin with warm water.

Ice cubes

Take some ice cubes and put them directly on your face for no more than 30 seconds so that the skin does not freeze. You will immediately feel a tightening effect. This is a perfect way to close pores after bathing.

Baking soda

Make a paste by mixing equal amounts of baking soda and warm water. Massage into the face in circular motions for 30 seconds and rinse with cold water. Repeat for an entire week and then only three times a week.
