The Worst Foods You Can Eat

· June 9, 2015

As we already know, nutrition is key to our overall health. Eating certain types of foods can make us feel good, while others can have the opposite effect. What’s more, there are foods that can even cause serious health problems (especially if consumed in excess). That’s why in this article, we’re going to show you some of the worst foods that you can eat.

Processed meats (like bologna, sausage, salami, or chorizo) are products that can be very harmful to our health. This is due to their high levels of saturated fats, which on average make up about 10% of every 3.5-ounce serving of sausage. This is well above the recommended daily intake, which is no more than 2% of saturated fat per 3.5-ounce serving.

Regular sausage consumption can result in obesity, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks or strokes. Because of this, these foods should be consumed in moderation – that is, in small amounts and only on occasions.

French fries

French fries are one of the most unhealthy foods out there. Although they taste good, eating them can cause serious damage because they contain high levels of saturated fats, trans fat, and cholesterol. When you do the math, you find that French fries usually contain about 500 calories per 3.5 ounce serving, including 36 grams of fats. As if that weren’t enough, the sodium content in French fries is extremely high, which can cause fluid retention and other problems.

Despite its delicious taste and texture, ice cream is a product that we can’t recommend eating in excess. Ice cream contains high levels of fats (both saturated and trans fats), as well as cholesterol and sugar. Therefore, eating ice cream can hasten the development of conditions like obesity or diabetes. But there are types of ice cream available that are lower in fat and sugar, which are much healthier options.

Juices, soft drinks, and other sugary beverages

In general, sugary beverages are extremely damaging to our health, particularly to the health of children. These beverages tend to contain a very high concentration of sugar, which can have serious effects on the body. The biggest risk is that an excess intake of sugar can cause extreme weight gain or obesity, which in some cases can trigger diseases like diabetes.

Hamburgers are just one more of the worst foods for our health, particularly the ones that are sold at famous hamburger chains. This is due to their high saturated fat and sodium content. As we already mentioned, these two factors can cause cardiovascular damage, weight gain, and obesity. To avoid this, it’s best to make low-fat hamburgers at home.

Like hamburgers, pizza is often high in saturated and trans fats, along with sodium and even sugars. This is especially common in pizzas that incorporate lots of cheese or sausage ingredients. Additionally, the flour used for preparing pizza dough can contain fats and other unhealthy ingredients.
