7 Natural Remedies for Mouth Sores

Allicin, the active compound in garlic, helps reduce inflammation of the sores and improves cellular activity, which promotes a faster healing process.


  • Crush one clove of garlic and rub the paste over your mouth sore for two to three minutes.
  • Rinse your mouth with plenty of water and repeat this remedy twice a day.

2. Baking Soda

Baking soda is a traditional remedy for problems that affect oral health.

It contains antiseptic and anti-inflammatory substances that contribute to mouth sores healing more quickly.

Its application reduces your risk of infection around the affected area. Since baking soda helps regulate your pH, it can also contribute to skin repair.


  • Moisten a small amount of baking soda with water and rub the paste over the affected area.

  • Add several drops of grapefruit seed extract to a cup of warm water and use as a mouthwash after brushing your teeth.

4. Hydrogen Peroxide

The disinfectant and restorative properties in hydrogen peroxide makes it one of the best natural remedies for mouth sores.

  • Dip a sterile cotton swab in hydrogen peroxide and rub it over the sore.

7. Turmeric Paste

This root contains an active substance known as curcumin. In addition to its characteristic color, this gives it anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties.


  • Take a small amount of ground turmeric, moisten it with a little drinking water, and apply the paste to your sores.
