  • 1 glass of water (200 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon of licorice (45 g)

Instructions

  • First, heat the water until it reaches the boiling point.
  • Slice the licorice into very small pieces and add it to the boiling water.
  • Then, leave the infusion for 5 minutes, remove from heat and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Drink this drink twice a day.

Apple

Although many people suggest that acid reflux symptoms improve with eating apples, there’s no evidence to support this. Despite this, apples are a safe, delicious and nutritious food that we can eat without problems.

Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 1 cup of water (250 ml)

Instructions

  • Pour the water in a recipient and boil.
  • Slice the apple into small pieces, without removing the skin, and add it to the boiling water.
  • Cover the container and let the decoction take place over low heat for 10 minutes.
  • Pour the drink into a cup and enjoy.
  • You can drink this 3 times per day to treat your reflux.

Baking soda

Baking soda for reflux.

One of the most popular remedies to calm reflux is baking soda. A small amount is more than enough to minimize this symptom. According to a publication in the National Center for Biotechnology Information, the antacid benefits of this ingredient have been reported. However, it should be used very sparingly.

Ingredients

  • 1 glass of water (200 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda (3 g)

Instructions

  • Add baking soda in a glass of warm water and mix well.
  • Drink this drink once a day.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera juice is known for its ability to improve digestion. A study published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine concluded that it can be a safe and effective treatment for reducing GERD symptoms. It should be taken in moderation, as it has a mild laxative effect.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of aloe vera gel (60 g)
  • 1 glass of water (200 ml)

Instructions

  • Remove the gel from an aloe leaf and process it in the blender together with a glass of water.
  • Strain and serve.
  • Administer this drink when you feel symptoms, or before sleeping.

Ginger

Ginger drink.

You can take advantage of the anti-inflammatory properties of this plant by preparing an infusion. There are those who suggest that it helps calm reflux symptoms, but there’s no scientific support for this. If you decide to try it, take it in small amounts.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of ginger root (7 g)
  • 1 cup of water (250 ml)

Instructions

  • Boil the water in a recipient. While it’s hot, slice a ginger root into small pieces.
  • Pour the pieces of root in the boiling water and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • After the indicated time passes, drink it.
  • You can drink this once a day.

Other recommendations to treat reflux

  • Eat more foods rich in glutamine, such as milk, to calm the symptoms of heartburn caused by reflux. Glutamine is a mineral present in the body, whose deficiency can cause this disease.
  • Do more physical activity. Exercise helps the body improve and reinforce different processes such as digestion. This will help reduce the acidity and the presence of toxins that the body doesn’t need.
  • Start with a healthy diet to prevent discomfort caused by reflux: avoid eating fatty foods.
  • Excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages or tobacco considerably erodes the esophageal cavity. By avoiding frequent consumption, you’ll notice the difference.
