As with any other organ in our body, we need to take care of our skin. Following a daily moisturizing routine will help prevent dryness. Here are some ideas to help you end the dryness.

Skin dryness can also be a warning sign telling us that our body is dehydrated.

In any case, dry, mistreated and dull skin is uncomfortable and hardly desirable from an aesthetic perspective.

We all want hydrated skin and a healthy face. However, if you find that your skin is quite dry, at Step to Health, we’re here to show you some wonderful ideas that you should put into practice to treat your dry skin.

While dry skin can sometimes be a genetic and inherited condition, it can also result from factors such as climate, sun exposure, how we care for it or skin conditions. In many cases, skin dries out because of lack of vitamins A and E due to a poor diet or one that’s rich in fats but not vitamins.

In cases of severely dry skin, people might experience itchiness or scaliness. These can result in pain and, in some cases, they can even cause ulcers.

Most cases of dry skin result from not taking care of it properly. Using aggressive soaps, not using moisturizers or sun protection, etc., are all examples of improper skin care.

You can solve all the problems mentioned above by following certain steps and tips that’ll help revitalize the health of your skin.

Generally speaking, there are certain things that should all do to take care of our skin on a basic level.

Not abusing hot water, choosing neutral pH soaps, moisturizing your skin after showering, and using sun protection are all essential in terms of daily routines for keeping skin healthy.

For the people experiencing severely dry skin, there are some tricks that can form a part of a daily routine to improve texture:

Healthy diet

As we mentioned before, a balanced diet is key for general health, and our skin isn’t an exception. Eating fruits, vegetables that are rich in vitamins will help hydrate your skin from the inside out, giving your skin a healthy glow.

How much water you drink in a day is also an important matter.

Remember that while you don’t need to follow the 2-liter-per-day rule, you should drink the amount of water that your body needs as asks. Water is essential for keeping the body hydrated, so be sure to include it in your diet.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation

Though many people believe that exfoliating dries skin out more, it actually helps repair and regenerate skin, thus hydrating it thanks to the fact that it eliminates dead skin cells.

Use your favorite exfoliator whether it’s salt, sugar or coffee grounds. Choose one that isn’t too abrasive for your skin type and rub it in using circular motions to remove all of the dead skin cells.

Milk

Going beyond drinking it, milk’s properties makes it an incredible moisturize for skin.

Just as the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra did, bathing in milk is a great option for people with dry skin. Milk’s high protein content softens and moisturizing skin, leaving it nice and firm.

  • Fill your bathtub with milk and soak yourself (or just the dry area) in the bath for 20 minutes.
  • After, wash off any milk from your body using warm water, not soap.

The proteins will penetrate your skin, giving you a healthy glow and hydration.

Oils

Oils

Oils are known for containing vitamins and nutrients, which are great for fighting dry skin.

Add a couple of tablespoons to your daily moisturizer. Doing so will give an extra hydrating effects that’ll work great for your skin. Use the cream on the driest areas of your skin once or twice a day.

Tonics

For your face, which is one of the areas where dryness is most frequent, you can use tonics. Tonics will help clean and remove makeup in addition to moisturizing your skin even more.

Make an olive oil and milk tonic by adding four tablespoons of milk to the oil, mixing well. Using a cotton ball, dip it into the tonic and dab onto your face.

You’ll see the results in a few days and your face will feel much more hydrated.
