It’s not very common for people to try and reduce cholesterol levels in their bodies. However, h igh cholesterol is a problem that affects almost half the adult population. This statistic offers us a very concerning outlook for this silent disease, especially since we generally don’t pay much attention to it.

Although it doesn’t hurt and goes easily unnoticed, little by little, the excess of fat builds up in our arteries, hardening them. In turn,  this increases the likelihood of arteriosclerosis or strokes that could be avoided by being more cautious with our diet and lifestyle.


Our physician should keep us informed of our cholesterol levels, assessing the amount of good cholesterol (HDL) and the so-called bad cholesterol (LDL). Also, they should tell us if we should begin undergoing treatment or change our diet. Although cholesterol is a necessary lipid for the body, having too much can be dangerous. Therefore, we should take this condition seriously and develop healthy habits.

To help you with your diet, today we will give you some simple recipes. They will help you to make nutritious and healthy juices that can help reduce your cholesterol levels.  You should be consistent and take them daily, always valuing the incredible properties that natural foods can give us.

Basic instructions to help reduce cholesterol

  • What to eat: Nutritionists recommend consuming at least 15-30 grams of fiber each day. Above all, we should focus on soluble fiber that allows for the absorption of fats and sugars, regulating the cholesterol in this way.  So, legumes, oatmeal, barley, fruits like banana, apples, strawberries, etc. are indispensable.  Remember to also eat healthy fats derived from tuna, olive oil, dried fruits and nuts.
  • What not to eat:  As much as possible, avoid saturated fats and processed foods. These include red meats, lunch meats, dairy products, chips, alcohol, and sweets. Also, remember that you should moderate your fruit intake since fructose may affect in the accumulation of triglycerides.

Beet Juice and Red Juices

To reduce cholesterol, it is essential to eat vegetables. An easy way to achieve this is with juices and smoothies.  To enjoy a delicious smoothie that also reduces cholesterol levels, make sure to add beets, as well as blueberries and strawberries, which are rich in antioxidants.

Ingredients

  • 1 beet
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1 handful blueberries
  • Orange juice
  • 1 Tablespoon oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup of water

Instructions

Wash the blueberries, strawberries, and beets. Follow by cutting them into pieces and placing them in a blender. Add the oatmeal and orange juice.  Next, add half a cup of water and mix until homogenous and without lumps. It’s best to drink it in the mornings, every day; it can help you lower your cholesterol naturally.

Artichoke Juice

Artichokes also have a powerful property for regulating arterial blood pressure and taking care of our heart. More importantly, though, they are very good at helping one to reduce cholesterol in a natural way. To benefit from them,  you can either eat them whole, or you can mix them in the following juice to maximize its nutritious potential.

Ingredients

  • 1 artichoke heart, already steamed (for this, select the most tender leaves from the center of the artichoke)
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 1/2 a garlic head, minced
  • 1/2 a glass of water

Instructions

Take all the ingredients, including the water, and place in a blender. Blend well until the mixture is uniform. This artichoke juice may be drunk up to twice a day. This means you can drink it in the morning and over dinner, for example.  It’s, without a doubt, a perfect juice to help reduce cholesterol and regulate high blood pressure.

Pineapple and Lemon Juice

Pineapple is another powerful food for reducing cholesterol.  In addition to its many properties, by pairing it with lemon, it’ll be transformed into a refreshing a juice that is healthy and delicious at the same time. This is why we suggest incorporating the following juice to your regular diet.

Ingredients

  • 28.2 ounces (approximately 4 cups) pineapple, sliced
  • Juice of 3 lemons
  • A pinch of cloves
  • 1/2 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 8 1/2 cups water

Instructions

Blend the pineapple with a glass of water.  Pour the lemon juice and spices into the rest of the water and stir well.  Once you have blended the pineapple, add it to the other mixture and stir until it all becomes uniform.  Then, let it cool in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.

With this recipe, you’ll have a very refreshing juice that you can serve after meals as a cocktail.  It’s very refreshing and eliminates toxins as it helps to digest your food better and reduce your cholesterol. Finally, keep in mind that, these juices can help you as long as you are consistent in drinking them. By drinking them while maintaining a balanced diet and exercising a little every day, your health and your quality of life will considerably improve.
