First of all, they have an ingredient called cucurbitacin, which causes indigestion and stomach gas. Thus, people who are susceptible to suffering from gas should reduce their consumption of cucumbers.

Other people may also have allergies to some ingredients in the cucumber and their tongue, throat, or mouth can get swollen.

If you consume them in extreme excess, cucumbers can cause dehydration because of their powerful diuretic properties. However, this is very rare. You would need to eat several pounds of cucumber in a day!
