Four Tricks to Easily Clean Pots and Pans

1-White vinegar and baking soda
Both white vinegar and baking soda have many different applications when it comes to cleaning your home. In this case, they help remove any leftover residue and burned remnants from the bottoms of your pans to leave them shiny and clean.
- ½ cup of white vinegar (125 ml)
- 1 cup of water (250 ml)
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda (30 g)
- First, pour the white vinegar onto the burned surface.
- Then, add the water and bring it to a boil.
- Remove the pan from heat and add the baking soda. You’ll notice that this step has an effervescent effect.
- Then, rub the surface with a sponge or a scouring pan and discard any waste.
- If it still sticks, add more dry baking soda to the pan and scrub gently again.

2-Potatoes and salt
While this might seem strange, you can clean pots and pans with a mixture of potatoes and salt.
This combination creates a 100% natural “exfoliant” with the right texture to eliminate sticky residues without ruining the surface of the pan.
- A raw potato
- 1 tablespoon of coarse salt (10 g)
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil (5 g)
- First, cut the potato in half.
- Then, rinse the pan and remove any traces of food or sauce.
- Sprinkle the coarse salt into the pan.
- Rub it using the raw potato.
- Scrub the surface for a few minutes using circular movements.
- Remove additional residue with some water. A drop of olive oil should be added last to protect the surface.
3- Coarse salt and aluminum foil
This trick using coarse salt and aluminum foil is recommended for cleaning cast iron pans that are burned. It won’t damage the surface and helps you remove any food residues that stuck on the surface.
- A tablespoon of coarse salt (10 g)
- Aluminum foil
- Sprinkle a tablespoon of salt on the surface of the pan.
- Make a ball with the aluminum foil and then use it to gently scrub the burned parts.
- Rub until the foil is darkened.
- Finally, rinse with your usual dish soap.

4-Baking soda and lime
The astringent power of baking soda can be used to remove any fat and food residues that mar the surface of your pans. When you combine it with lime, it will effectively and easily get rid of that burned appearance.
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda (20 g)
- ½ of a lime
- Sprinkle the baking soda into the pan you want to clean.
- Take half of a lime and rub the surface.
- Scrub for a few minutes until you notice the pan has a brighter appearance.
Note: If the residues aren’t completely gone, heat the pan with a little vinegar.
