We still don't know the cause of Alzheimer's. Studies say that it is associated with the appearance of senile plaques and the loss of the chemical substance that allows the communication between nerve cells. So, how is this brain deterioration prevented? Your behavioral habits, mental stimulation, and a proper diet will allow you to fight it. 

There are certain foods that help reduce cardiovascular risk. In other words, their natural components may prevent the appearance of the fearful amyloid plaques. These are foods that may help protect against Alzheimer’s naturally.

It’s true that this will not ensure you won’t suffer from Alzheimer’s. But, it’s simply about having good nutritious habits and a healthy and proper diet. You can complement it with a few behavioral and cognitive habits, in which you exercise your brain, your inquisitiveness and your curiosity as much as possible.

2. Curry

Start introducing it in your kitchen, especially yellow curry. It’s a delicious spice with a high amount of turmeric. It has very interesting medicinal properties that may help prevent Alzheimer’s because it has anti-inflammatory action.

3. Wine

Wine has anti-inflammatory properties that prevent the inflammation of brain tissue, preventing or at least reducing the chance of developing dementia or neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. We highly suggest drinking just one cup of wine a day.

This is an excellent vitamin that you can get from sunlight and a few foods. It helps stimulate your immune system by eliminating beta amyloid proteins, the origin of brain damage that causes Alzheimer’s.

You can find vitamin D in pharmacies or natural shops, as well as in fatty fish, soy, eggs and even vitamin D enriched grains.

5. Coffee

Recent studies published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease say that caffeine offers certain protection against the appearance of Alzheimer’s disease, something that has not been observed with other beverages.

Coffee prevents the accumulation of proteins that damage neurons in the brain, even slowing down the disease in people that are already suffering from the first symptoms.

6. Vitamin B

Having a good amount of vitamin B is essential to your health. It is necessary to have a good amount of them in order to care for your bones, your hair and your teeth. It is also great for preventing PMS.

Consuming vitamin B also allows you to lower the level of homocysteine in the blood, a harmful element to your brain that causes deterioration and nerve cells damage.


You can find this vitamin in all the foods that you see in the picture above: walnuts, whole grains, bananas, broccoli, pineapple, peppers, apples, eggs, soy… Don’t hesitate to include them in your diet.
