When you're working from home, it's a good idea to plan your schedules and establish some routines. In this article, we'll be giving you some recommendations.

Currently, many people are working from home due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is often called teleworking, or telecommuting. This means that the person continues to perform all their employment tasks using computers or in some other way.

However, teleworking isn’t always easy. Some jobs don’t even allow for this option. Meanwhile, those who can do it know that this type of working is not without its challenges, either. Following a correct routine at home is more complicated since we have greater freedom in our schedule and it’s easier to get involved in other activities. There are more distractions, and the level of concentration often decreases noticeably.

Therefore, in this article, we’re going to explain a series of exercises and routines that can help you get through the days of confinement. This way, you’ll be able to continue working from home without the risk of not being able to complete all your tasks.

Necessary conditions when you’re working from home

For work to remain productive, it’s important to establish certain conditions with employers or companies. Also, it’s important to maintain good communication.

To be able to work from home, it’s essential to reach a satisfactory agreement with your company or your boss. You’ll need to decide on the work you need to do, how everyone will communicate with each other, and the results that are expected.

When working from home, it’s recommended to always be connected and accessible. This way, all the relevant members of the same company can continue communicating with each other. To do this, a good wifi connection is vital. Also, many online platforms allow us to interact from a distance. For example, video calling programs such as Skype or Google Hangouts make it possible to hold conferences or meetings. The same goes for Whatsapp.

In fact, this is a key point. Experts recommend at least three video conference meetings a day for teams. While this may seem excessive, they can be useful for starting work in the morning, following up during the day, and then to finish off the day.

Choosing the right place for teleworking

The place where you’ll work is very important. When you’re at home, you’ll need to divide your areas correctly. You can’t mix rest and relaxation areas with work areas.

When choosing your own office, you need to take into account that the place must have good internet coverage, as we’ve mentioned before. Also, you’ll need to have everything you need nearby and at hand, for example, paper, pens, your computer, etc. It’s very inadvisable to do your work sitting in bed or on the sofa. Similarly, you should avoid having distractions such as the television nearby. Ideally, you should use the same area every day to carry out your tasks, and so it should always be available.

If there are children in the house, then it’s best to establish a routine for them, as well. Keeping them stimulated with books or homework will help them to concentrate better. However, it’s also important that they take breaks, just like when they’re at school.

Design your schedule

Organizing a work schedule is essential to accomplish everything. Also, it’s a good idea to maintain healthy habits such as exercising

To be able to work from home correctly, it’s advisable to keep a fixed schedule, just like in any face-to-face job. The idea is to continue with your normal personal hygiene routines, such as showering and dressing before starting work. These small details will help you to be more aware that you need to carry out your regular tasks.

Also, if you’re able to concentrate well, then it’s most likely that with teleworking you’ll have more leisure time. Don’t hesitate to incorporate an exercise routine into your daily life. Exercise can help you improve your performance. It also helps you to clear your mind and improve your health.

You should bear in mind that teleworking is, in a way, a lifestyle, and so it’s important to pay attention to all your routines and habits.
