Reducing belly fat is perhaps one of the biggest challenges we face when it comes to losing weight. While fat tends to accumulate on different areas of the body, the stomach is one of the most difficult to work on because it requires total effort and willpower. Even though diet and exercise can significantly help to noticeably reduce belly fat, it’s a smart idea to keep a few other tips in mind that can help you achieve better results in a shorter amount of time.

Abdominal fat is the most difficult to eliminate because this is where the body tends to accumulate the most fat. Neglecting your diet, a craving or other slip up can end weeks and even months of effort. For this reason, we need to be committed to our diets and follow several key pieces of advice to achieve the desired results.

Lemon water on an empty stomach

Drinking water with lemon on an empty stomach is a great way to burn fat and flatten your stomach. Lemon contains detoxifying properties that help eliminate waste products from the body, promoting digestion and fat burning. Mix the juice of a lemon with a glass of warm water and add a pinch of salt. Drink every morning on an empty stomach.

Avoid white rice

White rice is a processed food that increases body weight and abdominal fat. If you want a flat stomach, try to include the following foods in your diet: wheat, like whole wheat bread, whole grains, quinoa and oatmeal.

Quinoa, in particular, is one such recommended food because it doesn’t contain any cholesterol, it doesn’t convert into fat in the body, is easy to digest and tastes great. It’s an ideal food for pregnant women, those suffering from anemia, obesity or celiac disease, as it doesn’t contain any gluten.

Avoid sugar

Consuming sugar increases fat around the body, including the stomach and waist line. For a flat stomach, avoid ingesting sweets, sugary drinks and foods high in fat.

Drink more water

Drinking water keeps your body hydrated, activates the metabolism and stimulates the elimination of waste products from the body. Ideally, you should drink 1.5-2 liters of water a day. The water should be consumed over the course of the day. Drinking two liters in one shot does not offer the same benefits, and can, in fact, be dangerous.

Eat raw garlic

Even though the taste and smell of raw garlic isn’t pleasant enough to make you want to eat it every day, it’s worth the effort. Eating raw garlic every day supports the diet, helping to burn fat more easily. It’s recommended to eat 2 to 8 cloves of raw garlic, followed by a glass of water with lemon. This treatment helps burn fat and is also good for improving circulation.

Eat more fruits and vegetables

A good diet for weight loss and a flat stomach should include a good amount of fruits and vegetables. Avoid processed foods and choose only organic products. Fruits and vegetables should preferably be eaten raw, on their own, in a salad or as natural juices.

Avoid processed foods to reduce belly fat

Eating refined and processed foods is a total impediment to achieving a flat stomach and burning fat. To reduce belly fat it’s really important to avoid processed meats, refined flours and canned foods, among others which are usually high in calories.

Eat more spices

It may be hard to believe, but spices are a great supplement to any diet plan and contribute to weight loss. Popular spices like cinnamon, ginger and Cayenne pepper activate the metabolism and offer other great health benefits. In addition, they help lower blood sugar levels, helping you to avoid diabetes.
