6 Essential Tips to Get Rid of Double Chins

Having a double chin is a problem that affects many women, some of which aren’t even overweight but want to get rid of the fat that accumulates in the lower part of the jaw for aesthetic reasons.

We will give you some simple exercises and natural tips that, if you do them every day for awhile, will naturally get rid of your double chin. Find out about them!

What are Double Chins?

A double chin is a thick layer of fat that hangs underneath the chin and can vary in size in regards to various reasons: obesity, tissue flaccidity, age, etc.


Neck Movements

The simplest exercises, and also the ones that will also help improve possible neck or cervical pains, are the following:

  • Seated or standing, look upwards, lift your chin, and when you are at your limit, purse your lips and hold this position for a few seconds. You will see how it stretches your entire neck.
  • Gently move your head to one side, hold it there for a few moments, and then move it to the other side.

Ball Exercise

Put a tennis ball under your chin and hold it there by pushing it against your chest. Press and release repeatedly. As a result, you will get stronger in the area where you tend to have flaccidity.

Chew Gum

Chewing gum is an interesting and simple exercise that will also help strengthen the muscles. You can get used to doing it a couple times a day, trying to move the area a lot and even opening your mouth. Do it preferably when you are alone and avoid using gum with sugar to not contribute to being overweight and dental problems.

Keep an Eye on Your Diet

If your double chin is a genetic trait, as your parents or grandparents have it, don’t lose hope. Start these exercises and doing them consistently as soon as possible.

Double chins are highly connected with obesity. If this applies to you, and you know that you have excess fat on your body, we recommend that in addition to these exercises, you also have a healthy and balanced diet.

You shouldn’t go without fats because these are also essential to your diet, but you should avoid the ones that are harmful (fried foods, pastries, cold cuts, etc.) and go for the beneficial ones (first cold pressed oils, avocado, nuts, fish, egg yolks, etc.).

You should also avoid sudden changes in weight, which affect the accumulation of fat in the areas where you least want it and because they contribute to an increase in flaccidity in tissues.


Firm Up Your Neck

Flaccidity is an essential issue to fight to get firm skin under your chin. The exercises will help tone this area, but you should also not forget to always moisturize your neck with the same moisturizing cream you use on your face.

Once a week, you should also do an exfoliation with a natural peel to eliminate excess dead cells and boost skin renewal. You can make homemade peels with ingredients that everyone has at home and are even more natural and economic.


Avoid Too Much Sun

Lastly, you should avoid another cause of your double chin which is the damage from continuous and abusive exposure to the sun’s rays.

Too much exposure, during highest radiation and for a few hours, cause collagen and elastin destruction, which boosts skin aging and loss in firmness. Always avoid the midday hours, use a protective cream, and continuously refresh yourself with cold water. You can show off a perfect tan but it will be healthier.
