· June 3, 2017
Are you having troubles staying motivated? Remember that you have to love and respect yourself. You must be your biggest fan and your own best motivator.

We all find it difficult to stay motivated sometimes.

It’s easy to find yourself in this situation when you feel lonely, discouraged, and believe anything negative that other people say about you.

Everyone has dealt with this situation and it’s very normal. Don’t let it bother you.

What’s important is that when you feel like this, you recognize it and tackle the problem.

That’s why we want to give you some tips to help stay motivated during those gray periods.

1. Avoid speculation and focus on the facts

When you’re unmotivated, it’s very easy to see things in gray and black.

It’s important to understand that you’re going through a tough time, so you shouldn’t play guessing games. Try to see the facts for what they really are.

If you find yourself discouraged by your relationship, avoid looking at the possible realities and focus on what you know.

This means if you know that you really do love your partner, you’ll find that your problem will have a solution. Then, you’ll start moving away from that gray area.

When this happens, you’ll start to see your problems become smaller. Naturally, this will encourage you because you know you have a solution.

2. Understand that you’re only human

Lots of times it’s easy to think that when you make a mistake one time, everything else will go wrong.

However, this is not the case. You’re only human. You should give yourself the chance to make a mistake.

Besides, how will you learn if you don’t mess up every once in a while?

Mistakes are lessons in disguise. Try to see them objectively, learn the lessen, and move on.

When you feel discouraged because you were wrong, turn around and look at the long road you’ve traveled to get where you are today.

This way, you’ll be ready to return to the battlefield and continue advancing your goals.

Stop demanding everything that you think you need to be happier, more beautiful, more successful, or whatever it is that you’re looking for.

If what causes your lack of motivation is a very serious mistake, give yourself time to process it. Then, move on.

3. Get a daily dose of motivation

It’s impossible to stay motivated 24 hours a day. However, it is possible to motivate yourself once a day. A good starting point is to make a list of all the things you have accomplished.

You won’t want to do it every day, so you’ll need to put in the extra effort.

On the best days, this list will make things seem super easy. You might not even need a piece of paper in order to fill your mind with positive thoughts.

However, on the days when you can’t think of a single thing to motivate you that’s when you need this the most. Be ready to work on that list during those times.

When you finish, you’ll be able to see everything you’ve done and you’ll feel inspired.

If at any time you feel like there’s nothing to be thankful for or feel good about, check your notes from the previous days.

It could be that what you think you’re missing is waiting right in front of you.

4. Take a break

A lot of times, it’s hard to stay motivated when you’re oversaturated with information or can’t get a break.

Taking a break from anything that doesn’t help you stay motivated isn’t a bad thing: in fact, it’s extremely useful.

This doesn’t mean that the things that discourage you also make you unhappy. Nor does it mean that the things you thought were important aren’t. You just need a break.

When you feel like this, take a walk, watch a movie, or read a good book. Do whatever you need, even if it’s the opposite what you need to be doing.

This will help you recharge your batteries. When you return, you’ll see everything in a fresh way. You’ll manage to stay motivated without even realizing it.

5. Recognize when you need help

While’s it’s good to get to know how to motivate yourself and find encouragement from within, it’s also true that sometimes, you can’t do it alone.

The reason for this is so simple that it might not seem real: your mind is so cunning that it sometimes recognizes that you’re lacking motivation and creates barriers to prevent that.

Unlike depression, when consultation with a psychologist could be needed, a lack of motivation can be fought with friends, partners, or family members.

Don’t be afraid to ask for this help. You’ll be surprised to find that there are lots of people out there willing to lend a hand.

Learn to motivate yourself

Not everyone is the same, so there’s no precise mathematical formula for self motivation. That’s why you should try to get to know yourself as well as possible.

Take the time to understand what moves you, what scares you, where you want to go, and how you want to get there. The answer to these questions will give you the keys to face the times when you have to motivate yourself.

Remember that although a lack of motivation is part of the learning process, it shouldn’t be prolonged. Don’t let yourself get trapped in this state of mind.

Remember that you have to love and respect yourself. You must be your biggest fan and your own best motivator.
