How healthy do you think you are? Do you think you home is a healthy place? Could it be healthier?

After all, we all feel safe at home. However, today we want to talk about some things that you should remove from your house to be healthier.

You’ll find that some of these items don’t appear to be unsafe. What’s more, they are often items we all think of as “necessary” for our day-to-day lives.

The problem is that some of them can cause problems with our health. This happens even more frequently than what we hear about in the media.

Learn what they are in this article!

Things you should avoid to be healthier

1. Artificial sweeteners

Using an artificial sweetener in a cup of coffee

These are the first things that you should get rid of to be healthier. This is because artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose make your body store fat.

Eating artificial sweeteners increases your risk of suffering from diabetes. Similarly, it can also change your blood sugar level when you have this disease.

Foods and drinks that have artificial sweeteners are equally bad for your health. This includes things like diet sodas.

Besides affecting your insulin response and increasing your weight, artificial sweeteners encourage:

  • Heart attacks
  • Strokes
  • Alzheimer’s disease

One of the reasons that artificial sweeteners encourage these problems is because of the change in your intestinal flora. They also change the way your metabolism functions.

These chemicals also cause glucose intolerance. This makes it harder for to control your diabetes.

2. Plastic food containers

The second thing you should get out of your house is plastic containers and bottles. That includes the ones you use to store your food.

Doing this allows you to reduce the number of chemicals your endocrine system is exposed to. This includes chemicals like bisphenol A and phatales.

Overall, your endocrine system regulates:

  • Your mood
  • Your growth and development processes
  • The way your tissues work
  • Your sexual and reproductive systems

However, when you drink bottled water or foods that have been kept in plastic for a long time, you run the risk of suffering from:

  • Reproductive health problems
  • Hypertension
  • Several kinds of cancer

The problem is that with time, plastic containers leach residues that you can be ingesting without noticing.

The best thing to do is to use glass containers. You can even get some that are free of phatales.

3. Non-stick pans

Washing a non-stick pan

Do you usually use non-stick pots and pans? It’s likely that you don’t like it when foods stick when you’re cooking. And being a practical person, this is a good option.

However, you should know that these are one of the things you should definitely get rid of to be healthier.

It’s better to replace both non-stick pots and pans with ceramic or glass containers.

The problem with these items is that the material that keeps foods from sticking has perfluorooctanoic acid. This is a chemical that may cause cancer.

The non-stick property is due to the fluoride found in the perfluorooctanoic acid. The problem is that when you heat the pot or pan, the fluoride vaporizes. Once this happens, it’s impossible to notice the presence of toxic fluoride gasses. You inhale them without noticing.

4. Air fresheners

Air fresheners or deodorizers have dichlorophenol. This is a chemical that may cause premature puberty and other health problems, including cancer.

Other common chemicals in air fresheners are phatales. As we said before, these affect your endocrine system.

If you’re having problems with unpleasant smells in your house, try to use alternatives to air fresheners.

Some of the things you can do are:

  • Open your doors and windows on a daily basis. This lets your house ventilate and increases the air quality in your house.
  • Use good quality essential oils. This touch allows you to add a nice smell.
  • Keep fresh flowers in your house.
  • Burn some incense every day.

We know that many of us use air freshers. However, you should think about your health before you keep using them.

5. Prepacked spices

Bulk spices are healthier than packaged spices

Herbs and spices have a large number if antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. These help to maximize the number of nutrients you have in your foods. However, to really benefit from these benefits, you need to make sure that you’re using fresh spices.

There’s a problem with the prepackaged spices you find in the supermarket. They have been through a conservation process. This usually means that chemicals have been added to keep them from losing their flavor and texture.

Our recommendation is that you get natural spices in local markets. Or, you can even grow them in your garden. This way, you’re always sure to have fresh spices on hand.

Get rid of this things in your house and live a healthier life!
