Constipation is an uncomfortable condition that occurs when stools get stuck in the large intestine, causing very slow digestion. Symptoms include the inability to defecate for many days, abdominal pain, colitis, nausea, and more.

Some factors that provoke this illness are stress or not drinking enough liquids. The problem could also be an absence of dietary fiber, excessive use of laxatives or pharmaceutical products, or changes in hormones or habits.

For these cases, aloe vera, also known as aloe, is a possible remedy. The plant has laxative properties that help empty the intestine naturally, according to scientific studies.

Preparation

To prepare the remedy, you should first rinse the plant with cold water, cut it in half with a sharp knife, and remove its thorny parts. Next, extract the transparent gel that contains the laxative properties and put it in the blender.

The gel should be processed as soon as it is extracted. Once it makes contact with the air, it tends to harden quickly. If you want to improve the texture, you can add a little bit of citric juice to the blender: lemon, grapefruit, or orange. Keep this mixture in the refrigerator to preserve its properties. The mixture will keep for a week, but it’s most concentrated in the first two or three days.

How Should I Drink It?

You should drink two or three ounces of aloe juice daily. It’s best to do this on an empty stomach so that it doesn’t mix with food or drinks. Take two tablespoons of this mixture and stir in a glass of water or any fruit juice. If your constipation is chronic, you can take aloe vera every day in different ways.  Anything in excess can have side effects, so be careful not to abuse the product.

Note that this remedy is not suitable for pregnant women, people that have diabetes, or those with thyroid or kidney diseases. In these cases, your best bet is maintaining a diet rich in fiber and vitamins.

Aloe vera is a plant with a multitude of beneficial properties for your health. As we already mentioned, it is a laxative. It helps clean your colon, and regulates your stomach functions.

To help you when you drink it, you must prepare and store it properly. If you experience any reactions like diarrhea or cramps, you should stop taking it for at least 3 days. If you start again, try three small doses day, one before every meal. Later, you could switch to ingesting it all at once after a large meal.

This will definitely help relieve yourself naturally and control uncomfortable constipation. Next time you’re feeling blocked up, consider using aloe vera for constipation rather than stronger medicine.
