Home Remedies to Effectively Remove Calluses

Calluses can be a serious problem, causing the skin to thicken, become hard, and turn a yellowish color as a result of excessive pressure or friction. While calluses on feet are the most common area, they can also occur on other parts of the body that are exposed to strong pressure or rubbing.

The most common cause of calluses on the feet is wearing shoes that are too tight for too long. Wearing small shoes for long periods of time will lead to the appearance of calluses. Other possible causes are walking around barefoot, wearing shoes without socks, and playing sports in which you put a lot of pressure on your feet.

Calluses, aside from being unattractive to look at, can also be painful if they’re not treated properly. Fortunately there are some natural ways to facilitate their removal and help restore your skin to its normal smooth, soft texture. Do you have calluses on your feet? Don’t miss out on the following home remedies to remove them.

Use a pumice stone to remove calluses

Before you try any other treatment for calluses, try rubbing the area with a pumice stone, which is easy to use even on the most sensitive areas of your feet. Pumice stones can help remove calluses because they facilitate the elimination of dead and dry skin, while reducing your pain and speeding up the recovery time of the skin.

  • Using a pumice stone, gently rub the area from side to side for three to five minute.
  • Dry your feet and place a cotton pad soaked in castor oil over the callus, covering it with a bandage and leaving it on overnight.
