Life is so short that it’s a waste of time to worry about what others might be thinking about you. This may be a sign that you don’t love yourself enough.

When your own happiness starts to depend on those around you, it’s time to take a break and reflect on your life and the way you’re living it. Something has to change.

You don’t love yourself enough if you don’t accept yourself

We have to tell you that you may not love yourself enough if you’re not able to accept yourself as you are or if you’ve become a totally different person. You’ve made the mistake of putting all that you are in the hands of others, and now you’re lost.

Do you avoid being alone with yourself at all costs? If so, maybe you’re rejecting who you really are and using others to avoid facing yourself.

1. You’re not free to be yourself, you don’t love yourself enough

Being what others want you to be can wear you down. It might seem easy to you, but the truth is that it would be much easier to just be yourself than try to be someone who, in reality, doesn’t exist.

If right now you’re wondering if you feel fully free to be yourself, with all your flaws and virtues, you need to take a look at your behavior.

Do you spend too much of your time surrounded by other people? Do you avoid being alone with yourself at all costs? If so, maybe you’re rejecting who you really are and using the crowd to avoid thinking about it. In fact, maybe you’ve given the power to the people you spend all that time with to change you – and you feel bad when they’re not around.

It’s time to get away from all of that and discover who you really are.

2. You’re afraid to say what you think

Have you ever had that self-conscious feeling during a conversation or a fear to express your own opinions if they’re different from the rest? If so, you could be “molding” yourself after other people, even though it means rejecting and not expressing your own beliefs.

If you never speak, then no one will listen, and they’ll ignore you and not take you seriously. Don’t be afraid to be or to think differently. You could have a lack of self-esteem that you need to start caring for.

Your opinions are as relevant as those of anyone else. And even if you think they might be mere nonsense, they’re not! Bring them out, speak loudly, and make your presence known. Your opinion matters more than you think.

3. You’re critical of yourself

You’re so critical of yourself that without even realizing it you avoid your own advancement and get stuck. Somehow you punish yourself for not doing the things you should do. You don’t realize that making mistakes helps you learn and move on.

Stop criticizing yourself – appreciate everything you’ve achieved so far, no matter how small, and celebrate even when you think it doesn’t matter. If you do, it’ll be proof that you’ve started to love yourself.

4. It’s been a long time since you’ve cared for yourself

You have to love yourself, be healthy for yourself, and dress nicely for yourself – not for anyone else. If you don’t, no one else will. Leaving these responsibilities in the hands of others is a serious mistake.

5. You’re not able to self-motivate, you don’t love yourself enough

Without motivation, your rate of success when it comes to carrying out a plan or dream drops to a minimum. You’ll never get what you want if you don’t trust your skills and give yourself a shot of positive motivation every day.

You’ll fail once or twice and there will be people around you who don’t support you, but you still have to believe in yourself and pursue everything that you want. Don’t let others stop you. Place value in your own dreams.

Confidence is as important as the motivation we talked about earlier. Without confidence, you won’t succeed at anything. Have you ever stopped to think about what you’re capable of? Have you valued everything you’ve accomplished, no matter how small?

If you love yourself enough, you’ll have confidence in yourself and you won’t let anyone deflate it. In addition, you can achieve whatever you want and you’ll appreciate your mistakes, which allow you to learn.

You deserve love as much as anyone else. In fact, the only love that matters right now is the love you have for yourself.

Due to various life circumstances, you might feel afraid to open yourself up to others and show them who you really are. With full consciousness, you have created an armor to protect you that also weakens you.

If you don’t give yourself to others, if you don’t open yourself up, if you don’t love, you’ll never know what it means to be truly loved. Furthermore, you’ll never get to experience the feeling of being able to trust another person completely.

This will make you sad and strengthen your belief that you’re unworthy of being loved. But at this point, you should know perfectly well that you deserve love as much as anyone else. Indeed, the only love that matters right now is that which you feel for yourself.

It might sometimes be difficult for you to trust yourself, and maybe you think that you don’t deserve to be loved and that’s why you’re hurting. If this happens, recognize that you’re wrong and that you need to find a solution.

It’s your life that’s at stake here – your feelings, your emotions, and your dreams. So, start valuing your life and you’ll start to value the person who you really are. It’s not an easy road, but the effort will be worth it.
