Did you know that you can use toothpaste in a number of ways beyond cleaning and whitening your teeth? Below, we will show you some of the surprising ways you can use toothpaste!

Hair Gel

Toothpaste that contains gel can be used as hair gel. This isn’t something that you should use every day, but you can use it if your gel runs out. You should mix a little bit of toothpaste with some water in a bowl. Then, let sit and let the toothpaste dissolve in the water. Finally, use this mixture as a hair gel, but be sure wash it out at the end of the day.

Computer Keyboard and Cell Phone Screen Cleaner

Wipe your keyboard with a soft cloth with a tiny bit of toothpaste and water. When the keys are dry, remove it with a moist cloth. For cell phones, it is best to clean the screen in small circular motions with a cotton ball that has a little bit of toothpaste. After, remove the toothpaste with a damp cloth. This will make the stripes and scratches disappear!

Glass Cleaner

Mirrors, bathroom doors, and windows tend to get dirty quickly, unfortunately. Clean them with a little toothpaste and a sponge. Leave the paste on there for a little bit of time and then rinse.

Why does this work you may wonder? Many kinds of toothpaste contain baking soda that is good not only for removing plaque from our teeth but also for cleaning and removing stains.

Also, try rubbing this mixture on the mirror before you shower, and see how the mirror doesn’t fog or steam up!

Insect Bites

Toothpaste is recommended for soothing itching and swelling that some insect bites cause. Apply a little bit to the affected area. It will have more effect at night. There isn’t much research to explain why this is effective, but many people swear by it!

Strong Odors

Onion, garlic, fish, and other culinary products can leave bad odors on your hand when using them to cook or when eating them. Even some fruits and vegetables leave a bad smell. To get rid of these smells, spread a good amount of toothpaste on your hands and fingers, let sit for a while, and rinse off.

Stain Removal

There are some stains that become impossible to remove. You can try to apply a little bit of toothpaste on the stain and scrub. This works best with clothes made out of cotton. Note that this isn’t effective with all fabric types.

Acne

Toothpaste is one of the methods that is used the most today to treat acne. Apply a little bit of toothpaste on your pimples every night. This will make the pimples dry out faster. You can also use it during the day. Apply a little bit of cream on the area and cover it with a little bit of tape or band-aid.

Hair Dye Stains

If you dye your hair at home, and you get some dye on your clothing or yourself, apply toothpaste to the spots and it will be easily removed.

To prevent this from happening again, when you dye your hair, put a little bit of toothpaste and apply it to your ears, forehead (close to your hairline), and neck. If you have long hair, you can also put some on your shoulders. You don’t need to use a lot of toothpaste, just put a little on all of the areas mentioned.

Shiny Nails

Toothpaste also works as a nail cleaner and strengthener. Whitening toothpaste may also help in removing any stains or wanted spots on your nails from using nail polish. Rub your nails with a toothbrush and toothpaste, carefully buffing each nail.

Bad Smelling Baby Bottles

Over time, baby bottles start to have a bothersome smell. Clean them with a brush and toothpaste. There are brushes made especially for baby bottles to clean them especially well. Scrub well on all sides and then rinse. You can also use this for kitchen jars, thermos, and even empty cream or shampoo jars.

Brighten Silver Jewelry

Brush your jewelry with a brush and toothpaste. Spread the toothpaste all over them and let sit overnight. The next day, clean it with a moist cloth. Make sure to use a soft cloth and not a rough towel. This will leave your jewelry shiny and sparkling.

Remove the Burnt Layer from Irons

The burnt layer on irons is annoying because it could stain your clothing. Rub the iron plate with a toothbrush and paste until the stain is removed. You can use toothpaste of any brands to do this, but ones with baking soda have shown many positive results.

Shoe Cleaner

If your shoes are plastic, you can scrub them with a brush and toothpaste to remove dirt. This method is great for children’s tennis shoes because their shoes are almost always dirty. Furthermore, this way is time-saving by not having to wash the shoes and wait for them to dry. Simply, use toothpaste and a toothbrush to scrub the shoes and rinse them off with water.
